Networks and partnerships

An infrastructure connected to a national and international research ecosystem

Based at the INRAE Jouy-en-Josas centre, within the Paris-Saclay ecosystem, IERP participates in several scientific infrastructures, networks and initiatives that support recognition of its expertise, visibility of its capabilities and the development of collaborations.

These affiliations complement IERP’s own expertise and help connect partners with additional expertise when a project’s requirements extend beyond its scope.

An INRAE research infrastructure

IERP has held INRAE’s Infrastructure Scientifique Collective (ISC) status since 2017.

This status reflects its mission to provide experimental capabilities, expertise and support for different scientific teams.

The infrastructure welcomes projects led by INRAE teams as well as external academic or private-sector collaborations.

IBiSA label

IERP holds the IBiSA label (Infrastructures en Biologie Santé et Agronomie) and is listed in the areas of animal facilities and functional phenotyping, and in vivo imaging.

The IBiSA label helps identify platforms and infrastructures providing expertise and technological resources open to the scientific community.

National EMERG’IN network

Logo-EMERGIN transparent_300ppi.jpg

IERP is part of EMERG’IN, a national research infrastructure dedicated to combating emerging or zoonotic animal infectious diseases through in vivo investigation. EMERG’IN coordinates activities across institutions nationally, contributes to preparedness and response to emerging infections and develops public–private partnerships, particularly in diagnostics and veterinary medicines.

EMERG’IN draws on experimental facilities under four national organisations, INRAE, ANSES, CIRAD and CNRS, and helps mobilise resources, expertise and collaborations to address infectious disease challenges.

IERP is a member of Sciences Animales Paris-Saclay (SAPS), which brings together research units and platforms in animal biology and health within the Paris-Saclay ecosystem.

This local setting promotes interaction with academic teams, technology platforms and stakeholders in biomedical, veterinary, agricultural and biotechnology research.

Collaborations beyond institutional networks

Projects hosted at IERP involve INRAE teams, other academic institutions and private organisations in France and internationally.

Partnerships can range from supported use of a facility to a structured scientific collaboration: model production, in vivo studies, functional phenotyping, method development, analysis or scientific contributions.

For academic teams, these collaborations can also form part of funded projects or consortia, including ANR, PEPR and European programmes. IERP’s level of scientific involvement is agreed with the partners.

What these networks bring to projects

These affiliations help:

  • raise awareness of IERP capabilities across scientific communities
  • promote collaboration between infrastructures
  • identify complementary expertise
  • connect selected projects with national networks
  • support exchanges between public research and socio-economic stakeholders

When a requirement extends beyond what is directly available at IERP, these connections can also help identify other relevant contacts.

Approvals and regulatory framework

IERP holds an authorisation as a user establishment, renewed in 2025.

Our capabilities also include breeding and use of class 1 and 2 genetically modified models within authorised regulatory scopes.

Information on the regulatory framework, biosafety, animal welfare and the 3Rs is provided on a dedicated page.

Quality and environmental management

IERP has held ISO 14001 certification since March 2024 and is part of its institutional environmental management system. The unit follows the INRAE quality framework v2.

Building a collaboration with IERP

For any project, the starting point remains the scientific question and experimental need.

The team can then define the scope available at IERP and, where necessary, direct you to complementary expertise.
